Transparency, minimalism, simple volumes.
The huge glass façade of Lille's Chamber of Trade and Craft brings new life to an abandoned industrial area.
The building has a monolithic aspect which creates a radical, eye-catching outline. And yet there is plenty of subtlety in the perfect square which measures 80m on each side with an overall height of 25m.
The commanding windows on the first floor, outlined by aluminum frames, create the effect of depth which in turn breaks up the severity of the space. The end result is a building that emanates a protective and reassuring atmosphere.
